Equipment

The laboratory is equipped with nine servo-hydraulic testing machines and two servo-electric machines (one of them is a biaxial testing machine). The machines (MTS, Instron and Zwick) are controlled by electronics from Instron and Zwick and can be controlled from a computer if required. The maximum force capacity of the machines ranges from 1 kN to 10 MN. The laboratory also contains, for instance, hardness testing equipment, two pendulum hammers and a rotating bar bend fatigue machine. In addition there is equipment to perform testing at temperatures between    - 200 °C – 1000 °C, a climate chamber, stereo and metallurgical microscopes etc. One of the testing rooms in the laboratory is climate controlled.

500 kN Materials testing machine

Servo-hydraulic testing machine intended for mechanical testing of materials and components. Used for tensile, compression and fatigue testing.

160 kN-1100 Nm Materials testing machine

Servo-hydraulic axial-torsion testing machine intended for mechanical testing of materials and components. Used for tensile, compression, torsion and fatigue testing.

Servo-electric testing machine intended for mechanical testing of soft materials and smaller components. Used for tensile, compression and fatigue testing.

1 kN Biaxial materials testing machine

Servo-electric biaxial testing machine intended for mechanical testing of soft materials. Equipped with video and laser extensometer and with temperature controlled fluid bath.

Rotating bar bend fatigue testing machine
 

The in-house designed and built machine is intended for rotating bar bend fatigue testing.

Digital image correlation system
